Grinnel's Beach
Grinnel's Beach was once a popular spot with the local beach bums, sun lovers and surf enthusiests and, used to be packed from end to end. Litterally, the sand was covered with blankets with only inches to spare betwen each beach bum or gal and the cars lined both sides of the streets for blocks and blocks. At Grinnel's, there was no tight leash on what a beach patron could do hence its popularity and needless to say, soon the activity grew out of control and many inuuries, and deaths occured from people getting into fights or accidents happening within the water or on the beach itself. Eventually, the local environmental police stepped in and forced the beach into closure by stating they discovered a rare waterfowl species was making nests within the miles of cat tails and dry beach grasses that boardered the beach. The action was brought to court and with a single picture to prove that their claim was true, Grinnel's beach was shut down and gated off to the community. Since then, the beach vegetation has overgrown and the sands themselves are often piled with seaweed. seashells and rocks as they are no longer combed as they once were. Nowadays, Grinnel's beach may not attract people but, that doesn't keep strays from coming to it as it is a paradise to a dog.
