OTV DOCTRINES
Every site has em. These are all the rules to Over The Valley. Please be sure to read each one carefully and be sure not to skip any. Each were added for a reason and chances are you will stay out of trouble the more you familiarize yourself with them.
General .one:. Respect everyone. This includes staff, members, and guests. What goes around comes back around. This site is very strict when it comes to this rule. Without respect, a site crumbles.
.two:. Please, watch your language. You don't know the age group of everyone on the site and we certainly wouldn't want to become a negative influence on a young mind. Swearing in character is a different story and is allowed but out of character swearing is just rude, not to mention childish.
.three:. When writing anywhere, whether it is in the c-box, out of character chatting, or in character, please be sure to use proper grammar. It is rather hard to break down all these crazy words some people tend to use. Minor abbreviations are allowed [ ex: g2g, ttyl, lol, brb ]
Characters
.four:. Each user can have as many characters as they want. However, there are some stings attached. First off, each character must be kept active. This means the character must be in an active thread on a regular basis. If you cannot keep your character active, it will be moved to "Resting Character Bios" Please let us know if you'd like to have your character become inactive.
.five:. If your character is to end up inactive, you can ask a staff to move its biography to back to accepted biographies where all the characters are currently active. If your character goes inactive more than five times, will will kindly ask you whether or not you are serious about keeping that character.
.six:. Realism. This is a realist site therefore it would make sense if the characters remained realist. This means not growths the size of a melon, no extra legs, no fins, etc. I think you see where I am going with this. This also goes for breeds. Don't make a five foot tall beagle or a six pound german shepherd.
.seven:. We all adore puppies but there is an age limit on Over The Valley. Don't worry, puppies are still allowed but they cannot be under the age of three months old.
.eight:. It dawned on me that most people prefer larger dogs as far as roleplaying. It would be fun to have some variety though, don't you think? You are encouraged to make smaller breeds so there is more genetic variation on the site.
User Accounts
.nine:. Please be professional here. It's hard to take the new kid seriously when your name is 'yellowchicken768'. You are encouraged to use capital letters to start of your username [ ex: Larry ] instead of [ ex: larry ] Stand and and make a unique username so you won't have to worry about someone already having your name.
.ten:. DO NOT, I repeat do not dare to put an inappropriate picture as your signature. You will be deleted and banned so fast that your head will spin. This includes any sexual themes, nude pictures, bad language, dirty phrases, etc.
.eleven:. Only make one account. There is no reason to make a second one considering you can have an unlimited amount of characters. If your account was deleted, please respect who ever decided to delete your account and do not rejoin. However, if someone hacks your account and deleted it, feel free to rejoin.
Roleplaying
.twelve:. The minimum words in an in character thread is 300 words. There is no way of getting by this rule. Over the Valley is and intermediate-advanced site and if you can't easily reply with 300 words then maybe this isn't the right site for you. If you are having a rough day, just wait till you recover your muse. Quality over quantity, as long as it exceeds 300 words.
.thirteen:. Dogs aren't physic so don't make it as if they were. They can't know how another dog is feeling unless the other dog says "I'm feeling _____." Your character can assume something but can't automatically know that the other character you are roleplaying with is afraid of him/her, has a crush on him/her, etc.
.fourteen:. Each character can be in four threads at one time. Once a thread goes inactive, it will be moved to the archives and you can join another thread. Do not go over the limit or else the character will be asked to withdraw from one of the threads and it won't be fair to the other member who you were roleplaying with.
.fifteen:. Stray dogs aren't the only ones in the town. There are deer, cats, occasionally wild bears, humans, and many other creatures. Your dog can interact with the other creatures in Citagazze but you can only roleplay the interaction from your character's point of view.
.sixteen:. Do not claim a post when you know that you won't be able to reply to it in the next day or two. It is completely unfair to who ever created the thread and also to other members who can reply asap. If you don't reply to the claimed post, your claim will be deleted so that other members can reply. We will send you a reminder that you claimed the thread but not all the time so please don't forget.
.seventeen:. If your character is going to be in a fight, please alert a staff member. Everyone loves a good fight but you can't be the one to determine who wins because of course you are going to claim that your character won. There can be several different reasons for fighting: Pack leadership, deciding who gets to mate with a character that several other characters have their eyes on, or just for competition. There are plently of other reasons too but those are the more commonly known reasons. A staff member will judge the fight when the thread is complete and a winner will be named.
Packs
.eighteen:. Each pack leader has their own set of rules and most tend to vary depending on what pack it is. Obey what ever requests the pack leader has set up. If a rule seems unfair, feel free to bring it to a staff's attention.
.nineteen:. Each pack has a description. Read it and be sure that your character fits in with the other members. If your character is "evil", don't make it join a pack of saints. It just doesn't work that way.
.twenty:. The current leader of any pack can be challenged if they haven't been challenged in the last month. Fights can not be unfair so please only do one on one or two on two. If one dog is up against five others, it's clear who will win. When the fight is complete, a staff member will judge to see who the leader will be.
.twentyone:. If your character is denied acceptance into a pack, don't take it personally. See if another pack would be better for your character. If you really have no clue to why your character was denied, kindly ask the pack leader why your character wasn't accepted.
Breeding
.twentytwo:. You are allowed to have your characters reproduce without a breeding thread but come on. You can't have the two dogs just meet eachother and then fill out a litter form. Make sure that the two characters have some sort of chemistry or background together before making them breed. If a character is forced to breed with the other, than this rule doesn't apply.
.twentythree:. DO NOT BE GRAPHIC. No one wants to read about to dogs breeding. It is sick and just plain weird. If the staff find anyone doing this, we will ban you. It is just wrong to be doing that.
.twentyfour:. In order to have a litter, you must fill out a form provided in the Reproduction board. The form is pretty self explanatory. Do not leave any blank spots.
.twentyfive:. Characters can breed in Spring, Summer, and Fall. They can give birth all year round depending on when they bred. It is rare that a litter will be born in winter but if that does happen, please remember that the stats might high enough for the puppies to survive. It would realistically be hard to puppies to survive such climates.
Fighting
.twentysix:. All fights will be judged by a staff member. The thread must be finished before you alert the staff member to judge the fight.
.twentyseven:. Each character must have an into. Three attacks are allowed but not all have to be used. Two dodges are allowed but don't depend only on them. And finally, you must have a closer which basically means your character is assessing himself to see the damage that his body has and stuff like that.
.twentyeight:. Breed doesn't matter in fights. A mutt can easily beat a purebred. Also remember that size and weight also doesn't matter. A light weight dog can win against a heavier dog because all characters have flaws no matter what size, breed, weight, or history they have.
